Switching Your Sidelight Bulbs to Gain Better Illumination

If you have HID xenon headlights fitted to your vehicle or even if you have upgraded your standard halogen headlight bulbs to the latest xenon bulbs, you will have seen how crisp and white the light produced by xenon lights is.

The trouble is your sidelights are still that yellow colour, which is displeasing when you have xenon lights on your vehicle. Fortunately for you there is something you can do to improve the entire look of your vehicle. You can upgrade your sidelights just as you did your headlamps. There are more brilliant and clearer bulbs than the standard option, which even offer you a diversity of colours.

How Do Upgrade Sidelight Bulbs Differ From Ordinary Sidelight Bulbs?

Standard sidelight bulbs are very cheap massed produced items, utilising very rudimentary filaments with the glass bulb section normally filled with a basic, inert gas. By comparison upgrade sidelight bulbs use the very latest in car bulbs technology, and so are constructed from superior materials and have high quality filaments.

Newer sidelights come with xenon or halogen gas, which allows the light to be more brilliant and whiter. It is the best option to balance with your HID xenon lights.

Are Blue Xenon Side Bulbs Available and Legal?

Xenon bulbs are created in different colour tints to give you a wider variety of choices for improving the lights on your vehicle. You can upgrade to clear glass or something with a blue tint. These blue lights are becoming more popular with motorists. The blue tint in the light is often thought to emit a blue beam from the sidelight, but more often the tinting of the light clears up the regular yellow emission, thus you have a whiter illumination.

There is a degree of legality when it comes to the blue emission your sidelights can make. There are two factors involved. The first is the ECE rules that state there is a specific amount of heat that can be generated by the bulb. Blue tint is a filter, which allows less light to be provided from the bulb. The ECE rules state there is a maximum level that this light reduction can be in order to remain legal for road use.

The other aspect is that the less light that escapes from the blue tint the hotter the bulb will run. This means it is not only producing a hotter temperature than standard glass, but a light that is too dark will burn out faster.

Are LED Sidelight Bulbs Appropriate?

LED is the newest technology. LED bulbs are being used on the Porsche 997 and Audi R8, giving them prestige. LED means light emitting diode, and there are definite benefits to having them over glass bulbs for your vehicle.

LED sidelight bulbs are incredibly tough and durable and so normally last for over 50,000 hours, draw much less power and produce a much brighter and more intense light than standard car bulbs, and are available in range of colours.

It is quite simpler to change your standard sidelight bulbs out for LED bulbs. The LED bulbs have been created to fit into the holders and connectors of the original lights without any need for modification.

Updating your vehicle with xenon bulbs or LED sidelight bulbs renovates your cars appearance during evening and night hours. These lights offer a whiter and more brilliant light, which complements your xenon headlight bulbs. If you install LED lights you are getting a longer life out of a bulb, which means you will hardly need to change out the sidelight bulbs in your vehicle.

If you want to improve you car lights there can be a no easier way than fitting upgrade Sidelight Bulbs. The most commonly used sidelight car bulbs are the 501 Bulbs, they have an all glass construction and wedged shaped base so that they fit in their bulb holders without twisting.

A Brief History Of The Chevy Cavalier

The Chevy Cavalier was a compact automobile which was originally introduced in 1982. It went on to be produced in various different forms until 2005 by the US, General Motors. A very popular car and one of the best of its kind, the car has long had an enthusiastic following. The car has now been replaced with a Chevrolet Cobalt line up.

The very first generation of Chevy Cavalier appeared on the market back in 1981. It was a front wheel drive and had 24 cylinder engines. This car came in two different forms, the two door and four door solutions with hatchback styles and station wagon body styles. The wide variety of styles and the degree of versatility made it particularly popular.

The second generation of cavaliers came in in 1988. They were thoroughly redesigned with a different styling and considerably modified engines. They also had varying body styles but the hatchback body style and the two doors sedan eventually disappeared from the product range. They were replaced by the coupe.

The second generation had varying body styles as it did the first generation although the two door sedan model had been abandoned as was the hatchback body style eventually. Through the redesigns, these for avenge she replaced by the coupe design.

In the second generation, the engine also started to become more powerful with a considerable upgrade from 2. 8 l to 3. 1 l. This came in in 1990 and also, at the time, the transition was somewhat overhauled. It went through a slight revision again in 1991 with regards to the exterior and interior. However, after that, the car remained largely unchanged until 1994.

1994 marked the end of a second generation of cavaliers. The 1995 cavalier was a complete redesign marking the start of the third generation. This shared little in common with any of the previous models. It again went through a facelift in 2000 and then again in 2003. After 2000, the convertible finally disappeared from the range and when the range went through a few more redesigns, it finally ceased production in 2005. After many facelifts, this car has an extensive and very successful history with many redesigns and some innovative technology.

In 2005, this line of products from Chevrolet was replaced with the Chevrolet Cobalt. This car is now available is both coupe and sedan models. It also continues production today and is not yet undergone any major changes and redesigns. However, it is expected in 2009 that the company will release another model of car to replace this one. This will be the global successor to this model and expects to hit the market sometime later in this year. You can find quite a lot of information about this car on the Internet.

The Ford Escort Over The Years

The Ford escort over the years, especially in North America, wore many different types of sheet-metal though all were aimed the compact market — which prior to 1981 Ford had for all intents and purposes ignored. Beginning in that model year, however Ford introduced what it called “the world car” for the benefit of its customers in North America.

By and large, the compact Ford was successful right out of the gate and through the end of its life at the close of the 2003 model year, when it was supplanted by the new Focus. Originally created off the platform of a European model of the same name, it showed up in Ford showrooms sporting new sheetmetal and U. S. Technologies for its 1981 introduction.

Technologically, the Escort was Ford’s first car sporting front-wheel-drive and it took over the small car duties from the Pinto, a car that made its debut in 1971 and was always a vehicle that elicited no small amount of controversy. The Escort was nothing like the Pinto, though, and became one of the Dearborn automaker’s most popular vehicles. “The little Ford that could” became the country’s best-selling car in its second year and throughout most of the 80s.

In total, three generations of the Escort was produced by Ford, with each model and body style being a qualitative improvement over its predecessor. Over the life of the vehicle a number of engines and transmissions were offered, including a little diesel engine of 52 horsepower and a high-performance powerplant the kicked out a healthy 120 horses and could propel the small Escort quite capably.

Over the course of the third and last generation, which lasted from 1997 through the end of 2002, engineers at Ford had managed to demonstrate a real facility with the design and manufacture of compact vehicles, managing to squeeze increasingly good performance and reliability from a variety of four-cylinder engines while also giving customers nice styling, especially for the relative low prices the Escort sold at.

Over the two-plus decades of the car’s life, the Escort appeared in a variety of body styles. There was a hatchback sporting what Ford called “three doors, ” and a station wagon model along with a couple of different performance sport coupes that first appeared on the scene back in 1998. The designers also kept up the car’s appearance, freshening and redesigning it over the years.

Over the course of its lifespan, the Ford Escort filled an important niche for the Blue Oval. It was able to give the manufacturer a platform through which a number of different small car technologies that we now take for granted could be introduced and tested while also ensuring a nice-selling vehicle in the compact car segment. Barring anything else, just this fact alone made the Escort a great success.

The Very Successful Chevy Caprice Classic

The Chevy Caprice Classic over the years managed to hang around for over three decades, and was once one of Chevrolet’s most successful offerings right from its birth in mid-1965 until it ended its run after 1996. As far as a what it was meant to do, it pulled that off very ably and managed to appeal to a wide segment of car buyers no matter its body styles and engines offered.

The Caprice Classic as a vehicle meant to appeal to as many buyers as possible couldn’t be said to have been other than a success, and it was Chevy’s most expensive full-sized vehicle from its creation, which the division worked hard to keep equipped with all the good things buyers in that segment came to demand from a big car.

The Caprice sported only 8-cylinder engines – both big and small block – over the course of its first two generations of life, and it wasn’t until the third that an inline-6 cylinder was offered in an attempt at increasing fuel economy, which up until that point had never been its strong suit. Perhaps its most radical change came in 1977, when the Caprice Classic was totally redesigned and reduced in overall dimensions.

The new changes proved to be a great success with the buying public, and buyers took to the modern, boxy-looking vehicle with enthusiasm. This look would be the standard until 1990. Cops loved the big Chevy, too, and many police departments looked at the Caprice as the perfect vehicle for their needs due to its body and engine combination (body-on-frame and V8) and large rear seat.

As the luxury offering in the Caprice line, the Caprice Classic did its job well and with a great deal of aplomb, never straying far from the top of the Chevy price lists for full-size cars. Its final offering resulted in it appearing in another new redesign, though it carried over nicely-powered V8 engines to the point it offered a detuned Corvette mill.

Never a vehicle that conceded anything in the way of interior room, the Caprice Classic continued to be a favorite not only of consumers – though fragmentation of the market meant that sales would never be as robust as during the vehicle’s 1970s and 1980s heyday – but of cops everywhere. It also carried on in station wagon form until the end of its life.

Generally speaking, the Chevy Caprice Classic disappeared from the American market after the end of the 1996 model year. The nameplate, though, carries on over in the Middle East, where a Caprice Classic-badged model from a General Motors Australian subsidiary sells well. The big Chevy, as iconic a vehicle as Chevy has ever sold, played well to Americans for over three decades and is still missed by many.

The Sporty Hatchback: The Honda CR-X

In Japan, the Honda CR-X was originally called the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X when it first launched in 1984. This first generation CR-X was also known as the Honda Civic CR-X outside Japan, and it was considered to be a sports version of the popular Civic.

From the beginning, there were different versions for different markets. In the US, the Honda CR-X was touted as an economical sports hatchback with room for only two passengers. In Europe, however, it had a more powerful engine and 2 + 2 seating. The CR-X was basically redesigned in 1987 and continued to be produced until 1991.

Young drivers were attracted to the economy, handling and performance of the CR-X, with such a sporty design and great street presence. This certainly increased the numbers of younger drivers who bought Hondas. The company of R. Straman in the US carried out convertible conversions from 1984 to 1987 which also proved extremely popular. Also in the States, a 1. 5 L CR-X HF model was produced that had even better fuel economy at no additional purchase price.

The second generation CR-Xs were in production from 1987. There was a major chassis upgrade to fully independent front and rear wishbones, and they came with either the 1495 cc sohc engine or the upgraded 1590 cc DOHC. Fuel injection systems were standard in most models. In 1989, the CR-X had the same VTEC engine that was fitted to the Honda Integra, and this engine proved to give the same good fuel economy that the CR-X had become known for. The VTEC models also had some body upgrades with new bonnet, lights and bumpers, as well as changes to the dashboard.

In the United States there were three CR-X 2nd generation models with three different engines. These included the Si or sports injected that was fitted with a 16 valve 1590cc engine; the Si also had a powered sliding moon roof. The mid range model had an eight valve, 1495cc engine and the base model a 1495cc engine.

In Japan, a model with a fixed glass roof was available, which reached from windscreen to hatchback. Though never marketed in other countries, this model has become a favorite of car buffs.

In 1992, the Honda CR-X was replaced with the new Civic, the Honda Civic del Sol, which was generally accepted by motoring enthusiasts as the 3rd generation CR-X. Much talk and many rumors have promised a return of the Honda CR-X, and finally it does appear as though it may be one of the Honda hybrid series in the near future.

Quikrete Garage Floor Coating

Why is it that there’s always something wrong with the house? First the dishwasher, then the refrigerator, then the furnace and, now your garage floor has developed cracks. Great. I bet you never thought about garage flooring as something you needed to maintain, did you? It’s cement. It’s on the ground. It’s simply not something you thought about. Until it started cracking.

A Solution For Garage Floor Coating Or Repair

Hopefully you did this search well before the cracks started, but if you didn’t, Quikrete can be used for both a garage floor coating and a repair substance, depending on the situation, of course. The best part is, as far as garage floor coatings go, Quikrete is both cheap and easy to work with, making some things a do-it-yourself process that you really didn’t think you could do.

What Is Quikrete?

First, before you can begin your garage floor coating, and before you can understand what Quikrete is, it’s important to understand exactly what concrete is. Concrete is a blend of water, cement, and some sort of aggregate, such as sand or gravel. It’s used for building material in so many places because the components are everywhere and, more importantly, cheap. It’s also moldable and can even come in different colors, which makes it very versatile and useful in all sorts of projects. It’s also very tough; resistant to rot, decay, fire, wind, water, extreme temperatures, and wear-down by animal traffic. Unfortunately, though, it’s hard to work with and very slow to fully dry. That’s where Quikrete improves upon traditional concrete.

This Is Why Quikrete Is Better.

When looking for a garage floor coating, it is important to consider how quickly the substance will set. After all, something needs to be in that garage, right? Quikrete is nice because it can sometimes set in as little as ten minutes. Concrete takes days, sometimes weeks to fully set. Quikrete comes in both small packages or in bulk, so it is good for both repair jobs and entire garage floor coatings and seals. A job using Quikrete is usually done within the first day.

Concrete Is Hard To Mix. Is Quikrete as hard?

Quikrete is much easier to mix than traditional cement. That being said, there are still some challenges when it comes to mixing quikrete, and you’d be wise to do some research on the matter before you start. If you’re no stranger to home repair, I’m sure you’ve noticed that the product instructions, while helpful, aren’t always everything you need to get the job done. Either way, whether you’re using it as a repair substance or a garage floor coating, Quikrete just might be what you’re looking for to simplify that nightmare of a project.

Kasey Kahne Wins Big NASCAR Sprint Cup Race

Kasey Kahne’s prospects for making the Sprint Cup went up tremendously after Kahne finished first in a giant race on Sunday in Atlanta.

Formerly, Kahne found himself at 11th overall in the chase for the cup, however this win jumped him 5 spots, all the way into 6th place. With the playoffs composed of 12 racers and just one race remaining until the positions are determined, Kahne’s prospects of reaching the post-season seek markedly more realistic than they previously did.

During the race, it seemed like it was Kevin Harvick’s race to win Harvick, who emerged triumphant at the Nationwide race the previous night, was looking good until Clint Bowyer came into danger with only 15 laps remaining. Bowyer, Harvick’s teammate, ruined his chances for winning the race, as Kahne took advantage of the caution and finished first by about 2 seconds.

Harvick, who ended in second place, just missed his first victory during the ‘09 race season. Coming in 3rd place was Juan Pablo Montoya, who is currently looking for his first playoff berth and looks like he might be able to pull it off.

Kahne was pleased with the race overall. Pleased with the auto, he attributed his glory in the race to its performance – and of course, a bit of help regarding Kevin Harvick’s troubles.

Ending up in sixth at the event was Denny Hamlin. With this result, Hamlin is currently the 4th NASCAR racer to secure a playoff spot in the chase for the cup. Hamlin joins Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and of course, Jimmy Johnson, who has won the latest 3 years.

When asked about his chances, Kahne showed nice confidence.

Having had the privilege of a good performing auto throughout the race, Kahne attributes its toughness to his triumph in the race.

Though there was a little movement between the 12 seedings for the Chase, no one was removed from the top 12 this past weekend. The lead is held by Tony Stewart, with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson close back. Additional drivers include Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, and 5 more. At the 13 and fourteen spot are Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch, who both could do with great finishes next weekend if they are to have a chance at the Chase.
