BMW M Roadster

When a person asks the definition of a sports car, no 2 people are able to provide an answer that everyone can concur with. However, for a lot of people, both young and old, the definition of a sports car, is a BMW.

The German giants have added yet another top quality vehicle to their ever growing family: the 2006 BMW M. The BMW M is a snazzy looking roadster and a glimpse in its past shows the amount of work and research that was done even before the initial construction of the car. A brief look at its elongated engine box, stretched out wheelbase, short rear end, and the low seats which combined give the passengers a fantastic drive, will be able to clearly highlight the fact that BMW has yet again created a car that is guaranteed to be a winner.

The feature rich BMW M Roadster has a front engine with a Rear-Wheel Drive system in place. The engine is an Inline DOHC with 24 valves and is basically a stubborn chunk of iron with an aluminum head. The engine capacity is a good 3152 cc and the car can push out a whopping 240BHP at 6000 RPM. The feisty roadster has been made for those who want to get an authentic thrill out of their drive and has a 5 speed manual transmission gear box rather than the popular automatic transmission. There are 2 available suspension options; independent front suspension and independent rear suspension. Features of the 1st type are the presence of damper struts, lower control-arms, coil springs along with an anti roll bar. The latter has the same features apart from having semi-trailing arms instead of lower control arms.

The BMW M Roadster stretches 96.8 inches along its wheelbase and has a 55 inch rear. It’s curb weight is 3084 lbs and it has an additional fuel capacity of 13 ½ gallons. The boot is tiny and measures barely 5.1 cubic feet in volume.

The car has a rack-and-pinion steering with adjustable ratio and variable power assistance. It’s turning radius is approximately 34.1 feet. All four wheels have vented disc brakes and the vehicle has an anti locking braking system as well. The dimensions of the cast aluminum wheels are 17 inch by 7.5 inch wheels for the front ones and 17 inch by 9 inch ones for the rear. The tires are all Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 with 225/45ZR-17’s for the front and 245/40ZR-17’s for the rear.
