Cadillac Escalade

Cadillac is a premium automobile brand sold mainly in the USA and is a branch of American big guns, General Motors Corporation or GMC. It has become synonymous with words such as luxury and quality and the name “Cadillac” is even being used ass a part of some peoples language as a representative of extremely high standards. Formed by the Henry Ford Company, Cadillac’s name originated from the 17th Century French explorer, Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac who founded Detroit, Michigan in the year 1701.

One of Cadillac’s most prized production is the Cadillac Escalade. The Escalade is basically a much more luxurious version of the gigantic Cherolet or GMC Sports Utility Vehicles. The mammoth palace-on-wheels is available in 3 different forms: the normal SUV wagon, the even longer ESV wagon and the EXT Pick-up Truck. All three can be categorized under the broad SUV category but the EXT version is more of a crew cab pick up truck which has 4 doors. The other 2 variants have 3 row seating and can seat 7 people very comfortably. The EXT shares certain similarities with the Chevy Avalanche as both have a mid gate wall separating the seating area from the cargo hold.

Despite having different shapes, all the 3 models of the Escalade boast of having an all wheel drive feature and a heavy V8, 6.0 liter engine. The base variant is also available in 2 wheel drive. All versions of the SUV are automatic, have safety features such as front-side air bags, ABS, tire pressure monitoring system, antiskid or traction control and lastly, Cadillac’s renowned auto-adjusting Road Sensing Suspension. Other standard features in the trim levels of the Escalade is the inclusion of a trailering package, power adjustable break pedals and accelerator, rear obstacle detection, DVD entertainment for rear passengers, 20-inch Chrome Alloys instead of the 17 inch ones that are available with the other models.

Despite the occasional delay in transmission in full throttle down-shifts, the Escalade has very good acceleration for its size. The 2WD models can tow upto 7400 lbs while the 4WD ones can tow upto 8100 lbs. The EXT version’s towing capacity is a tad lower at 7300lbs. The Escalade consumes approximately 13.7-15.6 miles to a gallon of fuel in city or highway driving. Driving the car can get a little overwhelming due to its massive truck like feel. The ESV model has better ride comfort due to its longer wheel-base. Getting the car to respond can be tedious at times as it handles very sluggishly and the car takes its own time to react to the steering inputs. The steering is very sensitive and requires you to stay alert at higher speeds while driving on the highway. However the standard rear leveling suspension helps in improving the control of the car when it is heavily loaded. The brakes are quite soft and have a good amount of strength.

The Escalade has a very silent cabin and isolates the passengers from any sort of noise, be it the wind or the engine. It has ample head and leg room and a magnificent shoulder width. The seats are tastfully tailored and comfortable and have fold down armrests. The height of the car gives a commanding view of the road lying ahead and the driver has some handy assistance from the audio/visual rear object detection system fitted in the car which alerts the driver of objects that lie in certain blind spots while the car is backing up.

Auto Parts Discount is a store that provides a variety of range of parts for the Escalade along with Cadillac performance replacement parts and products.
