Jaguar XKR
The 2007 Jaguar XKR is a perfect blend of power and elegance. It can give any of the worlds leading luxury car brands a run for their money. Under a beguiling cover of pure refinement and utmost classiness lies a beast that can deliver quite a solid punch. It is a car in which Jaguar has managed to mould grandeur, fierceness and pure muscle all into one seamless machine of commodious beauty. This lean and mean machine’s entry into the market has posted a considerable threat to the big guns of the automotive industry whose products have always dominated the up-market community.
The XKR is not a purring kitten but rather a ferocious jungle cat that emanates power. The 4.2 liter, DOHC V8 Supercharged engine is a well crafted and powerful. The 6 Speed Sequential Shifting ZF Auto-Transmission with paddle shifts makes the car drive like a sports car, especially with the 420 horses pounding beneath its hood. Compared to the 300 horses present in the XK, the XKR is far more advanced in terms of power. The ZF transmission offers a range of different drives. You can choose between a standard gear shift, sports drive with the paddle shifts or the complete manual drive. The car rests on readjusted CATS suspension which has sturdier dampers and springs. The solid aluminum chassis sits on 19 inch alloys. Overall, this Jaguar is light in weight and hence has superb performance. The regular traction control and DSC gives the car great ride quality and excellent stability even when the speedometer crosses triple digits and to balance that extra sting that the car possess, upgraded disc brakes have been provided to make sure that the passengers’ safety is not compensated upon.
The bold letter R that is fixed in the center of the XKR’s front grill, just adds to the tastefully accessorized exterior of the car. The hood of the car is adorned with hood louvers which give it a speedy look. The car has plenty of “Bling” to offer with the chrome airvent trims on the sides and the chrome clad quad-exhaust pipes that jut out for others to glare at in jealousy. The rear of the car is absolutely flawless and makes you wish that there was more to see. The XKR is a striking piece of art that cleverly highlights its macho looks from under the disguise of its winsomeness. Apart from the coupe, the convertible is also available to cater to the customers’ whim.
Jaguar has not been able to hold back on any plain while creating this car and so the lavish cabin comes as no surprise. Soft grain leather envelopes the insides and the console panels and dashboard trims are available in burl walnut, aluminum or in poplar. The instrument cluster is placed in a convenient position for the driver to access along with the digital message center. There is also a handy 7-inch screen placed in the central console from where you can operate the climate-control, audio and GPS. The seats are heated and provide great lumbar and extra lateral support.
The XKR was made to share the title of the Driver’s Choice Award for Best Dream Machine along with the 559 GTB Fiorana from the Italian Supercar manufacturer, Ferrari and the Porsche 911 Turbo. Despite the prestige of being held at par with such eminent cars, the Jaguar XKR 2007 Model’s exquisite appeal is superlative.
