The Mustang is a automobile model that was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. The first generation Mustangs were from 1964 to 1973. The initial design of the Ford Mustang was based on the Ford Falcon. The Ford Falcon had been a big success for Ford at first, but had to be phased out as sales dropped. This is where the Mustang came in.
Close to the dawn of the space age, on the day of March 9, 1964 the first Mustang was manufactured. The Ford Mustang was born and it grabbed the attention of that generation and it was very popular. In fact, to this day the first generation Mustang has a special place in the hearts of most classic car collectors. Introduced to the public at the New York world’s fair on April 17, 1964, it was an instant hit! The only other launch that was anywhere close was the model A.! This car is so popular that it has not had a stop in production since 1964. It is the only original pony car to have this distinction.
Pony car is a class of automobile inspired by the Ford Mustang in 1964. A pony car is a coupe that has long hoods and short rear decks. The Mustang was the purest form of the pony car, and became a highly popular type of car design. Due to the fact that Mustangs were very popular, competitors came out the woodwork to emulate the look of the Mustang with their own version of the pony car. It inspired cars such as the Chevy Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, AMC’s Javelin, and later cars like the Toyota Celica.
I have a slick looking 73 Ford Mustang when I was a teenager. My dad gave the car to me as a teenager who had just turned 16. I don’t know why even trusted me with a car, especially a Mustang!
Older men like me, looking back on their first car of the teen years with great sentimentality. It is really the memories that are attached to a car like the Ford Mustang, that really make it burn into your soul for the rest of your days. The carefree days, the girls, and the freedom of being on the open road will never be forgotten. Unfortunately I sold the 73 Mustang that I owned, but the spirit of the last first generation Ford Mustang will always be with me. What can I say? It will always be in my heart.
