OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
So Basically these are the original parts that your vehicle came off the automotive assembly line with. OEM parts can be found at authorized distributors and dealership for which ever brand of vehicle you are referring to. These parts are typically going to be more expensive then aftermarket parts which is why dealers will tend to lead you to believe that these OEM parts are of a better quality. Which maybe the case in some instances . . . but it never hurts to see what the competition is. Because even though they are ” OEM ” they may not be made by the original manufacturer. MANY manufacturers have parts produced by outside independent companies. Then they will install by machine or place them in boxes so they can be sold as ” OEM ” parts.
